SMTA Atlanta Expo A Success16TH annual event supported community through education, networking and charitable donations
April 25, 2012 - The 16th annual SMTA ATLANTA EXPO (smta.org), held April 19 at the Gwinnett Civic Center, boasted attendance up over last year’s event. More than 80 different industry suppliers and services from the electronics industry exhibited at the EXPO. The keynote presentation from Steve Pudles, CEO of Spectral Response and chair of IPC board of directors, focused on EMS companies, as well as the opportunities and challenges regarding program management and the global supply chain. This presentation drew a strong crowd at the show opening.
Technical presentations throughout the day covered such topics as test, counterfeit electronics, PCB design, PoP assembly and SiP Technology. Complimentary lunch was sponsored by World Micro, Inc. (worldmicro.com) and coffee breaks by SIPAD Systems, Inc. (sipad.com).
The Atlanta SMTA Expo also featured a charity raffle that benefited Camp Kudzu (campkudzu.org), a non-profit organization that provides recreation, education and peer-networking programs for Georgia’s children and youth living with type 1 diabetes. The Chapter also provided scholarship funds for Jacquelyn Knotts, Mechanical Engineering 2012, Georgia Institute of Technology, as well as a donation to Georgia First (gafirst.org), an organization that promotes an interest in science and technology for youth in preparation for education and careers in these fields.
