SMART Group Announces Upcoming Webinar on RoHS, WEEE and REACHWebinar is supported by SMTA
On Tuesday 1st February 2011 at 14.30 GMT this SMART Group webinar will summarize all the recent changes made to RoHS and REACH and explain some of the issues that are delaying the amendment of the WEEE Directive. Those registered for this smart-e-webinar will receive a copy of all the slides presented. The session lasts approximately 60 minutes and there will be time for questions.
After first proposing amending the RoHS Directive in December 2008, the European Commission announced that the Parliament had voted to adopt a final compromise text on November 24th, 2010. The most significant impact of the changes will be bringing all ten EEE categories into scope, including "Medical Devices" and "Monitoring and Control Instruments".
The creation of an additional "catch-all" category will include other EEE not mentioned elsewhere. Plenty of manufacturing organisations that have not had to worry too much about RoHS, will now have to look at the law with renewed interest. However, for those that have already been living with the demands of RoHS since July 2006 there are also some significant changes that affect the current implementation too.
Meanwhile the WEEE Directive amendment process has stalled over some unresolved issues, but the REACH and CLP regulations continue to move forward with more SVHCs proposed and the first registration deadline passed on November 30th, 2010 has 4300 substances registered already.
This very important stage in the legislation will be covered by two key engineers keen to update the industry and will be presented by: SMART Group Technical Committee Members: Marion Quarrington & Nigel Burtt
Topics will include:
RoHS - are you now in scope? When do you have to take action?
RoHS - are you dependent on existing exemptions that now have been revised?
RoHS - what additional work will be needed now that "CE" marking is required?
WEEE - what are the proposed changes and will the EU politicians ever agree on them?
REACH - can you rely upon the availability of products and substances necessary for your products?
This is a major SMART Group event and the participation cost is just £65 plus VAT. We recommend you book a place early for you or your engineering team so as not to be disappointed.
For information SMART Group is also offering a range of smart-e-webinars throughout 2011, to complement its existing interactive CDROM’s, Hands On and Theory Training Courses. SMART has always been innovative and keen to provide different types of education and support to the industry. smart-e-webinars are a crucial and ideal learning opportunity for both individuals or groups of engineers who do not lose valuable time away from the ‘coalface’.
You can always guarantee that our events are presented by colleagues who are also facing the same working challenges as those of its audience.
Each session lasts 60 minutes and allows a cost effective alternative to existing educational events without the hassle of travel. To participate in a smart-e-webinar all you need is a broadband internet connection, PC, headset microphone & headphones. Alternatively for groups in a conference room you use a PC with speakers, broadband connection and projector plus conference microphone.
