It is with great sadness that we report long-time member and officer of the SMTA Atlanta Chapter, Steve Hughes, passed away from COVID-19 on September 7, 2020.

Steve began his career at Scientific-Atlanta in Tucker, GA, working for 12 years as a Journeyman Machinist Manager, and then as a manager at Stone Mountain Tool in Conyers, GA for 21 years. Steve loved to go fishing and was an avid Georgia Bulldog Fan. Family was everything to him. He loved to sing with his daughters and be silly & goofy to make them laugh. His grandbabies were his pride and joy. Steve had a wonderful personality and enjoyed people so much. He was a devoted member at New Life Ministries in Milledgeville, GA.

The Service Honoring the Life of Steve Hughes will be held Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 4:00 P.M. at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel, with Pastor John Milam and Pastor Lori Milam officiating. Interment will follow at Lenora Baptist Church Cemetery with his father, Rev. Kenneth R. Hughes, handling the Committal Service. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of the service at the funeral home. You can view the service, which will be livestreamed at the link here: https://www.oneroomstreaming.com/view/authorise.php?k=159970163676121

A Memorial Service will held be on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at 4:00 P.M. at Steve's beloved church, New Life Ministries, 385 Log Cabin Rd. NE, Milledgeville, GA 31061 (478-452-2052) with Pastor John Milam and Pastor Lori Milam.

Flowers are accepted, but Steve would want for Memorial Gifts to be made towards his "End of Life Wishes" with the funeral home for the benefit of his beloved family or to his beloved church, New Life Ministries in memory of Steve Hughes.

The COVID-19 regulations will allow 70 people to attend the service at Tom M. Wages which includes the family members and close family friends. We also ask all friends and family members attending visitations and services to please bring and wear a mask.
