High Reliability and RoHS

Presenter: Ian Wilding
Company: Henkel Corporation
Date Published: 9/17/2013

Description: The RoHS directive has been well-publicized but often not fully understood. This webinar will aim to update all attendees on the requirements of the legislation and how, in light of the move to lead-free, electronics assembly professionals can achieve high reliability. Participants in the webinar will learn when to make the switch to Pb-free in the automotive and industrial markets, receive detailed reliability comparisons of SnPb versus Pb-free alloys, understand failure mechanisms and the limitations of SAC alloys, learn the distinction between a differentiation standard and high reliability, and much, much more.

Outline

  • RoHS directive update
  • When to switch to Pb-free in the automotive/industrial market
  • Reliability comparison of alloys (Tin lead vs Pb-free)
  • Failure mechanisms
  • Limitations of standard SAC (Creep Resistance, Thermal Cycling, Vibration, Drop Test)
  • Differentiating standard vs high reliability
  • Customer acceptance
  • Timeline to failure

    Who Should Attend

  • Process, Design, Test and Quality Engineers
  • Process and Quality Technicians
  • Operators
  • Managers

    About The Presenter
